Riverine country, this is our Bangladesh. That is why all the big cities of the country are connected with the river in one way or another. So from the very beginning, this river path has been one of the means of transportation of goods.I started thinking about how to easily deliver the customer's product to the destination.That dream came true in 2012 with Unicorn Freight Services Limited. Our first goal was to deliver the product to the customer in a short time, at low cost, with adequate security and without loss.And with that goal in mind, our cargo ship jumped into the sea.We started with Unicorn Freight Services Ltd. but now we have three partner cargo companies namely Water Ride Ltd., Unicorn Dredgers Ltd. and Sunshine Logistics.They are relentlessly providing transportation services to the customers.Only in Mae waterways can goods be brought at 3 to 4 percent less cost than other means of communication, at maximum time and with proper security.So the number of customers started increasing, we also started increasing the number of cargo. Even if we started with 2 cargo in 2012.At present there are 13 cargoes with different types of transport capacity.

The expectation is that container transport to and from the main ports of Chittagong & Mongla will grow significantly over the next 20 years. If this growth is accommodated by road transport, our roads will become completely blocked. There is a lot of unused capacity in the system of inland waterways and inland shipping is capable of transporting large volumes. Inland shipping will thus have to make a considerable contribution to keeping the main port accessible. Bangladesh, as a riverine country with 24,000 km waterways, has a navigable network varying from 5968 km during the monsoon to 3865 km during the dry season. Its inland water transport (IWT) continues to be an important mode of transport not only in the inland movement of freight and passengers but also in the transportation of import and export items through the ports of Chittagong and Mongla. IWT is such a mode of transport that has been characterized as the leas-cost, environment friendly, less accident-prone and low maintenance cost. Moreover, the development of waterways does not even require any cultivable land rather it’s very much helpful for development of other sectors of economy including maintaining ecological balance.
